All Star Game
No, it does not really matter. It is not even good baseball most of the time. But the extra frames were very exciting. 4:50 and 15 innings. Ending after 1:30AM local time. The game ends with a play at the plate on a sacrifice fly that scored by a fraction. But the call was correct. A great game even if it is just a showcase.

Sports Update
Even though the Cardinals just lost two of three to the Cubs and the Brewers fell behind them tonight, it is the Brewers that worry me now. The addition of CC Sabathia is quite a coup for them. Plus they have found a stride. This is a three team race now and the Cards hopes have to rest with Carpenter coming back in form and getting something out of Mulder.

Brett Farve might come back. I hope he does. And I want to see him a Packer. Because if he comes back as a Packer and is not great, he can back out again much more gracefuly than if he is traded or released. While he could pull a Joe Montana and give another team a great year or two, he could also be a Joe Namath and look horrible as a Ram. Brett is a Packer. If he comes back, they should take him.

That is my week in sports.

Cardinals
That is one of the strangest ends to a game that I have ever seen. To throwing errors from the second baseman to the pitcher covering at first. One to put on what would be the winning run with two out and then another to allow that runner to score in the bottom of the 10th.

This was after watching a play at the plate to keep the game tied where Molina was just crushed at the plate but somehow held onto the ball even though after the play he would be taken off on a stretcher. Yes, in watching the replay, he may not have actually touched him with the tag and the runner did not touch the plate.

This after the Cardinals give up a 5-1 lead earlier.

What a strange game. All on the 45th anniversary of the trade that brought Lou Brock from the Cubs to the Cardinals.

Cardinals
The Cardinals just finished taking 2 out of 3 from the Cubs to sit 1.5 games in front of them in first place in the NL Central. While it is early in the season, it is very sweet.

Early in the Season
One month into the baseball season and the St Louis Cardinals have the second most wins in the National League and are tied for the lead of the NL Central. All this with our best pitchers on the DL and due to come back this summer.

Baseball
My first baseball post of the season. Opening day was rained out and then there was nothing good to post about yesterday. This does not look to be a great year for the Cardinals on paper, but they do not play the games on paper.

But I am going to take a moment to point out that the Cardinals have their first victory and the Cubs do not. That is all.

I watch parts of the NCAA tourney. Today I watched parts of the Davidson - Kansas game. I was so hoping that Davidson could pull it off. They gave it a great run. Only exciting game of the Elite Eight. But no Cinderella to the final four. We get four number 1s. I hope that Memphis takes it. At least they are from a smaller, less powerful conference.

The Cardinals open the season tomorrow. Baseball is back

Spring Training games started today and the Cardinals started out with a win. Not the wins and losses matter in spring training, but a 7-0 win is a good thing.

World Series.
Congrats to the Red Sox on the win. For all Rockies fans, they had a great year. One interesting graphic I saw. With 30 teams in MLB, four of them - Yankees (26), Cardinals (10), A's (9), and Red Sox (7) - have one over half of the world championships since the first one in 1904.

Baseball Playoffs
Sometimes it is nice to not have a team you really want to win or losing playing in a playoff game. The Rockies - Diamondbacks game that just ended was a thrilling game. 3-2 in favor of the Rockies in 11 innings. Well played. Close. A good baseball game.

So if the Cubs and Yankees had to make the playoffs, I can not think of anything better than them both being down two games to none. Even better that the Indians are the ones beating the Yankees.

Wow. That was an amazing baseball game to end the regular season. Rockies win in the 13th afer giving up two in the top of the 13th. And they did it against Trevor Hoffman. With a sacrifice fly with a play at the plate. Though the replay shows he was out. But their is no replay in baseball.

The Rockies won 13 out of their last 14 to win the wild card. And technically only .5 games out of first. That is doing it the hard way.

Cleaning & Sports
I think I spent all day cleaning. The day started with lawn mowing. Then it was moving inside for the living room and the "library" while [info]sgtgwn cleaned the bathroom. Then I finished washing the clothes and did the dishes. We splt the rest of the cleaning of the kitchen. Those four rooms are cleaned up well. I got a lot of the dining room cleaned up. The back bar is still messy as is the disaster on the microwave cart. But the floor is cleaned and the table no longer has stuff on it. Then we put away six loads of laundry and sorted socks. We now have two pillowcases full of mis-matched sox. How does that happen?

So that was my day. I did get to watch some football. The Packers won as did the Colts and both went to 4-0. The Rams lost to the stinking Cowboys and fell to 0-4. I would really love to see the Packers crush the Cowboys in the playoffs. Romo might look like the next Farve, but I like the original as he set the all time TD mark today.

And despite my claims of the baseball season being over, the regular season did not end today. Padres and Rockies in a one game playoff tomorrow. Then it is the playoff where the Diamondbacks crush the Cubs while the Indians take out the Yankees.

Sports
Week 1 of football season is over. I love football. A team game where you have one person that is in control, but can not control it all. Where one person can seem to dominate, but really needs all of the other players.

Unlike baseball, where the Cardinals are everything, I like many football teams. It is mostly based on the quaterback. In baseball my heroes are Stan Musial, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson, Mike Shannon, Orlando Cepeda, Ted Simmons, Ozzie Smith, Bob Forsch, Willie McGee, Mark McGwire and Albert Puholz. All Cardinals. In football they are Joe Namath, Johny Unitas, Len Dawson, Dan Fouts, Bob Griese, Dan Marino, John Elway, Brett Farve, Kurt Warner, Steve Young, and the greatest of them all Joe Montana. All quaterbacks. That is how I judge football. A good passing attack. This makes me just like to watch football at any level. To see how this leader can become a winner. And that is why Montana was the greatest of all. A great quarterback, and the leader.

There was a point to this, but I may have lost it as I drift in and out. Off to bed with me.
